In 1992 John co-founded Muscat with Dr. Martin Porter, the creator of the Porter stemmer algorithm. Muscat delivered the first Internet and intranet search systems for BBC, Nokia, NASA, Sun Microsystems, Shell, Telegraph and many other web pioneers. John led its profitable commercial growth to a successful trade exit in 1997. From 2001, he led Business Creation at Cambridge University's Entrepreneurship Centre, chaired the 5th Cambridge Enterprise Conference, co-founded Cambridge Angels and Enterprise Accelerator, and served on the board of the UK's East of England Development Agency for five years until 2008.
John rejoined Dr. Porter as co-founder of Grapeshot, applying advanced probability search algorithms developed by Porter at Cambridge University to package up publisher inventory into virtual channels of keyword targeted content.
Since 2012 John has championed the adoption of keyword contextual technology on DSP platforms to pre-bid target and post-buy analyse campaigns with a keyword contextual lens.
John holds an Honours degree from the University of Cambridge, where he remains 'Entrepreneur in Residence'.
